The Methodist Society of the Episcopal Church
The logo created for the Methodist Society of the Episcopal Church is a representation of the connection between Methodism and Anglicanism/Episcopal Church. It includes the motto “The World is our Parish” and allusions to historic symbols of Methodism (open Bible and dove descending) and Anglicanism/Episcopal Church (St. George’s Cross, Cross and Shield logo, compass). It was important for the client that the logo avoids the association with a burning cross that the United Methodist Church current logo conveys to some. The immediate communication needs were that the logo was adaptable for social media and print materials. It was also important that the logo clearly conveys the organization’s name and had defined elements within that can be extrapolated and built upon in a wider branding scheme. An alternative, simplified sub logo was created based on these considerations. The final product is a welcoming logo that strongly conveys the connection between both churches and serves as a meaningful representation of the society. On top of the logo design, the project also includes a complete branded identity system – consistent with the organization visual language and laying foundation for the brand’s further expansion.

Color
The color palette was carefully selected and composed of toned down colors that feel calm, timely and monumental. The primary brown is the most prominent and meaningful color in the palette, so its usage must be purposeful. In the Methodist and Episcopal church, the brown is signifying regeneration, hope, and immortality. It is the color that serves as the foundation of the overall palette.The burgundy and navy blue are more neutral colors help to provide a contrast to the primary brown.
Type
The official type used to create the logo and for the branding. The feel for the branding was vintage, bold and authentic while still conveying strong religious association. To achieve this effect, a combination of Warnock Pro, an elegant serif font, and Catharsis Requiem- a gothic typeface, was utilized.
